But I am much more interested in which publication/journal/weblog our Holy Father would designate as Magazine of the Year.

Frankly, I voted for YOU! But, Time’s choice isn’t a bad one; and one can’t pick the people who pick the awardees (one might ask, for example, what is joe is doing on the Time Magazine “Person of The Year” award committee; but that would be a useless question). For instance, awarding the Nobel Prize to Al Gore and Barack Obama, and the “achievements” on which the awards were based: what were they thinking?
As to the “Magazine of The Year” award: I think we can say with confidence one mag that wouldn’t be Father Mark White’s choice, irrespective of it’s choice for “Person of The Year”. Beyond that, could we trust the judgment of someone who probably spent way too much time reading that one magazine, and not the host of others that might have thoughts expressed which merited contemplation, thought, and reason.
Al Capp had the best take on the situation, “Lime, the fruit-flavored magazine: if you can’t read it, eat it!”
